Don VanKlompenburg came to manage SHLBC in the summer of 2003 after serving as the senior pastor at Full Gospel Assembly in Canby for 13 years. He has a passion to see the camp grow as a lighthouse, shining the love of Jesus, facilitating diverse activities, and ministering to people in the process. Don has been married to his wife Karen for 39 years and they have five children: Jessica, Krista, Elisa, Jeremy and Joshua.
Karen enjoys being a helpmate for her husband and serves as head cook at the camp. She also works as a paraprofessional at the Fosston High School. Karen and Don, love to work together and long to share life together with you.
Jessica, her husband Mark, and children Anna, Joelle and Gideon, live in Cascade, Montana, where they planted and pastor Canyon Life Church.
Krista, with her husband Tito and children Alex, Andru, Antoni, and Alicia, live in Cottage Grove. Krista is a stay-at-home mom and also home-schools the kids, while Tito is a software engineer.
Elisa and her husband Brent live in Bemidji. Elisa is a cook at the Beltrami County Jail and Brent is produce manager at an employee-owned grocery store in Bemidji.
Jeremy is a physical therapist at Big Stone Therapy in Montague, Michigan, where he also resides.
Joshua lives in Marshall and works at the Marshall Independent newspaper as a sports writer.
